SALEM REVENUE DISTRICT SPORTS MEET - MAHATHMA GANDHI STADIUM

On behalf of the Education Department of Salem District, Salem Revenue District Republic Day Sports Meet events were held on the 29th and 30th of October 2019 at Mahatma Gandhi Stadium, Salem. It was organised by our school.
The Chief Guests were Mr. T. Ganeshmoorthy - The Chief Educational Officer, Salem. Mrs. L. Sumathy - The District Educational Officer, Salem, Mr. R. Madhankumar – The District Educational Officer, Salem Rural, Mr. T.Thangavel – The District Educational Officer, Attur, Mr. N. Ramasamy – The District Educational Officer, Sankari, Mrs. M. Vijaya – The District Educational Officer, Edappadi and Mrs.S. Nirmaladevi, DIPE, Salem. Rev. Sr. Anita Correspondent and Rev. Sr. Roselyn Principal of Cluny Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Rev. Sr. Lourdu Mary, Principal of St. Joseph Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Salem were present on this occasion. The Guest of Honour was Ms. R. Rajapriyadharshini, International Basketball achiever.
The opening ceremony started off with a welcome address by Rev. Sr. Roselyn, Principal of Cluny Matric. Hr. Sec. School.
The Revenue Sports Meet consisted of students (Boys & Girls) from 10 zones in Salem District. Over 150 schools from the Government schools, Govt. Aided schools, Corporation schools and Matriculation schools participated in this meet. Approximately 1192 boys and girls participated in various sports event. The students were graded in Under 14, Under 17 and Under 19 categories. In total 86 competitions took place. Students who secured the first two places were selected for the State Level Competitions.
In the boys category the first overall championship was bagged by Salem East Zone Schools with 113 points.The second place for overall championship for boys was bagged by Salem Centre Zone Schools with 67 points.
In the girls category the first overall championship was bagged by Salem East Zone Schools with 160 points.The second place for overall championship for girls was bagged by Salem Centre Zone Schools with 55 points.
The concluding events were held on 30th Oct 2019 (Wednesday) around 6.30pm at Mahatma Gandhi Stadium. Awards in the form of medals, cups and certificates for the prize winners were awarded by the Guests of the day.
Mrs. Nirmala Devi, the District Inspector of Physical Education (I/C) congratulated and thanked our school for organizing such a mega event in a perfect manner.
